Planet Not Much Fun

M and I recently took the Peas to Planet Fun - the shows, as they say in Scotland - in Portobello. It was a token-only affair, and after the first twenty quid's worth of tokens had been used up I was dispatched along Portobello High Street to get more money. On my return, the Peas were keen to have another shot on the simulator. That sounded like my idea of fun too, so I joined them inside the pod.
Five minutes later I emerged sweating and shaking. It was one of the scariest experiences of my life, and I speak as someone who has jumped out of planes and off bridges. The simulation was a rollercoaster ride through space. From time to time the carriages flew off the track before landing on another piece of track on another planet. Or they performed a full loop, before veering off at a 90 degree angle on an apparent collision course with an asteroid. I ended up shutting my eyes and praying for it to end.
The Peas, on the other hand, were cool as little cucumbers, appearing to think that such a ride was quite normal. And would have gone on it again, had we not mysteriously run out of tokens.
